DIY Hope Machines | THE FESTIVAL OF LOOKING

Sun 18 Oct

Past Event

With Dr Duckie and Folkestone Fringe
1530-1630 at Urban Room Folkestone, Tram Road Car Park

What good is hope? Can it be an engine for real change? Through research with queer performance collective Duckie, Ben Walters (aka Dr Duckie) has investigated the power of ‘homemade mutant hope machines’ – pragmatic grassroots projects that help marginalised people make better worlds on their own terms.

This summer, Folkestone Fringe and the Live Art Development Agency invited Ben to work with local artists to see what ‘hope-machine thinking’ might do for Folkestone. Join him and Folkestone Fringe director Diane Dever to hear how it went and explore what might happen next.
